-My initial thoughts on Into the Wild are curiosity. I think it is very cool and brave of McCandless to do what he wants to do. The curiosity comes from what he leaves. He is an intelligent person with no money issues and he does what he wants.
-I think the word courageous displays Chris' character. He has what a lot of people would want, and in a way throughs that away to do something many people would look down upon.
-I think author Krakauer is trying to magnify the theme of personal accomplishment. He shows this by using a person who wants something other then the ordinary, Chris is an individual who wants to experince his independance. Krakauer could be trying to tell us to go out and get what we want regardless of the "social norm."
-I relate Chris to Bear Grills of "Man vs Wild." This is more of a litteral connection then anything because Bear Grills is a man who travels places with no humanity and lives off of the land. This is what Chris did.
-I could relate the story of Chris to my brother. Its a totally different situation but similar orginiality in accomplishment theme. My brother decided he wanted to do plays and singing instead of sports. This may seem simple, but at first my brother was afraid of going after what he wanted because he is the youngets of the family who follows a family that revolves around sports. His choice to render free of other peoples opinions and do what he wants is in parrallell to Chris.
